Ladies Committee 2021
I am the 2021 Captain of Lee Valley ladies club. I am delighted and privileged to lead a great committee this year. We are working to keep golf enjoyable for all. I am a high handicapper who enjoys golf and most often falls into the “also ran” section of competitions with occasional wins. On a good day, playing Lee Valley is soul food. Walking up the 17th in autumn, as the trees on the left are lit up by the setting sun is one of my favourite moments each year and a great lockdown image.
I am the 2021 President of’ The Lee Valley Ladies Golf Club’. After years of encouragement from my husband Richard, the exceptional welcome from the Keohane family, staff, and members I joined the beautiful, picturesque Lee Valley Golf & Country Club in 2015. It was “eureka”. I have been on committee for five years, two on the mixed, two on the general and this year as President. Golf to me is about giving it your best shot and enjoying the company of all members.
As Vice Captain I will fully support Captain Maire to achieve her goals in 2021. During my 20 years golfing in Lee Valley I have become passionate about this complex competitive game but what I value most is the friendships I have made. My own personal goal is to create a welcoming environment for everyone and to address the Women in Charter topics with a specific interest in increasing the participation of women in golf club activities.
I am secretary of the Lee Valley Ladies Golf Club. I am a member for 18 years and was hooked on the game of golf from the very start. I was a member of the Mixed 4s committee for three years and this is my second year as secretary. I feel fortunate to be a member of a club that values both friendship and good golf.
Finola Mc Sweeney
I am competition secretary this year. There is nothing better than getting out on a fresh Wednesday in good company. Regardless of how the golf plays out the tea/coffee and especially the chat in the clubhouse after the game is always enjoyed.
Helen O Mahony
Hello, I’m Helen O Mahony and I am the Hon Treasurer on the committee of Lee Valley Ladies Golf Club. Over 10 years ago I went from working in a very busy acute hospital environment, to working in an office on my own. I took up golf as a hobby at that time for much needed company and exercise and it has served so well on both fronts. My handicap is in the high 20’s, so Im still trying to master the golf but hopefully that will happen some day soon! I’m delighted to do my bit as treasurer and help in any other way I can on the Ladies Club committee.
My role on Committee 2021 is Handicap secretary. A native of Dublin I have been living in Cork for the last 38 years.Golf is an excellent social outlet and great for physical and mental health
Gobnait Ni Luasaigh
My role on committee 2021 is Hon sec for course, rules, etiquette and juniors .
I am social secretary on committee 2021.When I am not working as a community nurse I am frequently playing golf. My greatest joy is representing my club in golf. The excitement of playing in team events, the camaraderie you share with your coach, caddie and team mates, the disappointment of the losses and the joy of winning is what it is about. Winning the All Ireland in 2017 was one of the best days of my life. Did I say I love golf?
I am delighted to be part of the 2021 social committee. Since my mum introduced me to golf in 2018 my love of the golf game
I am a training tutor for Swim Ireland, head coach for Mallow Swans S.C. responsible for 250+ keen swimmers. I am really enjoying my golf, meeting new friends and tantalised by the challenges of the game of golf and Lee Valley in particular has grown and grown. Looking forward to seeing you out on the course soon.
A member since 2011, I enjoy the competitive edge of inter club matches, especially the team camaraderie. I enjoy social golf with fellow members, friends and family.
My name is Vanessa. I joined the Lee Valley Golf Club in 2014 in the hopes of continuing my love of the game and to meet new people as I had just moved from Malaysia. The club and in particular the Keohane family were very welcoming. Not only were my hopes of finding a lovely community realised but I was delighted that I met some pretty decent golfers too! In 2015 our team won the gold medal at the All Ireland Championships. My goal now is to help the team achieve more gold medals and welcome others to this amazing club the way I was, once welcomed.
