There is always a great buzz at Lee Valley! Much of that is due to the wide variety of golf events hosted on our magnificent course. You may have played in several, and now, allow me to introduce you to the woman behind each of these successful, fun and exciting events – Linda Atkinson.
Linda started at Lee Valley as an office administrator 11 years ago. She was promoted to Reservations Manager in 2007. She handles all the golf bookings, events and classics as well as the Holiday Homes.
We stole a few moments with Linda to get her perspective on the various events she co-ordinates here at Lee Valley:
Golf Societies
Every golf society has different needs and wants and I work with each group to customise a package perfectly suited to the individual needs of that particular group. Some societies look for just golf while others prefer an inclusive package with golf, dinner or a BBQ and transport in our 25 seater coach. Different people want different things and it is very nice to be able to provide each group with whatever it is they desire.
Golf Events
We host an array of golf events ranging from charity classics to a corporate day out. This year, we are honoured to be hosting the Florian Cup, an international fire-fighters golfing competition. This is a two day event. We pride ourselves on being thorough and well-prepared so the actual day of the event is stress-free and an enjoyable day for all involved.

Golf Classics
Linda says it best herself: “I always like to help the organiser in any way I can. There is a lot of work involved in the running of a classic and you want to make as much money as possible for the charity or club they are fundraising for. This year, I am delighted to be getting very much involved in the running of The Cork Children’s Hospital Golf Classic. It is a charity I hold very close to my heart. They do such fantastic work with the children and their families. I hope to make it a huge success with the help of a great team of people.”
Local Events
“As a local club, it is nice to get involved where possible in local events. In 2012 I became a member of the committee to bring the World Feeder Fishing Competition to Farran. And we did. This competition involved 27 countries and an average of 14 people per country came. The visitors from ten competing countries stayed with us for two weeks along with Sky Sports. There was about 12 months of planning that went into this event – we were the venue for the closing ceremony. Well over 200 people attended; it was an outstanding achievement for Lee Valley and we are looking forward to the next big competition on 2017.”
Travelling Golf Groups
We have golf groups from all over Europe come and stay with us, many have become regulars. It’s a joy to see that happen. Visitors become friends and part of the Lee Valley family. Generally they come in groups of 8 – 30 people, they will golf in Lee Valley and use our 25-seater coach to play on other courses in Ireland. It’s great to be able to offer an all-inclusive package to groups as it makes trip so much easier and enjoyable.
Holiday Homes
Lee Valley holiday homes are a great favourite with families visiting Ireland for their summer break. We are very central to beaches, lovely towns, villages and the city centre. Visitors always thoroughly enjoy their stay! They can take a quick stroll to the clubhouse and enjoy dinner and a drink without having to worry about driving home. Lee Valley has been described as a home away from home because of it’s very welcoming staff and surroundings. It’s my job and pleasure to provide them with local information, directions and also recommend fantastic bars and restaurants in this wonderful area we call home!
